Craig Finn announces new album produced by The War On Drugs’ Adam Granduciel
The propulsive heartland rock of lead single ”People of Substance” sounds like what you’d probably hope a collaboration from Craig Finn and Adam Granduciel would sound like.
The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn has announced a new solo album, Always Been, produced by The War On Drugs leader Adam Granduciel and due April 4 via Tamarac Recordings/Thirty Tigers (pre-order). The album features guest vocals from Kathleen Edwards and Sam Fender (the latter of whom also released a new single today) and here’s what Craig says about it:
I believe this to be the most narrative record I have made. Most songs concern a protagonist who pursued a career as a clergyman despite a lack of faith. The record tells the story of his rise and fall and redemption, while also filling out the details of his travels and the world in which he lives. I am very proud of what we made, I hope you enjoy.
The first single is “People of Substance,” a propulsive heartland rock song with a big hook and a searing guitar solo that sounds like what you’d probably hope a collaboration from Craig Finn and Adam Granduciel would sound like. It’s a good one, and it comes with a visualizer by David Kelling. Check it out below.
Craig also opens part of Bob Mould‘s upcoming tour, and those dates are listed below too.
