Celtic punks The Rumjacks share anthemic new song, announce US/Canada tour

Australian Celtic punks The Rumjacks are releasing their new album Dead Anthems this Friday (2/7) via FOUR FOUR, and we’re premiering one last song and video ahead of the album’s release, “Eye For An Eye.” It’s a stirring, propulsive anthem about cyclical violence, and the dark subject matter is offset by a hook that sounds like it’s gonna be a big singalong at their upcoming tour. Singer Mike Rivkees tells us:

This was co-written with my best friend, Galen Reynolds. We have been making music together since we were teenagers so every once in a while we get the chance to sit down at one of our studios and write. This one came together very seamlessly.

Echoing some other themes on this album, hatred starts at home.

One side is mad about what the other side did in the past and vice versa. You have a “chicken or the egg” discussion about “who started it” and then when violence breaks out the flames are fanned on both sides.

While this song takes place in Belfast, this song DOES NOT TAKE A PARTICULAR SIDE. It is a commentary on cyclical violence.

The Rumjacks will be back in North America this June for a tour with Crazy & the Brains, and that includes a show in Ridgewood, Queens on June 20 at TV Eye. Tickets for all shows go on sale today (2/6) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.
