Bayern Munich respond as Manchester United push for Mathys Tel transfer

Tottenham appeared to be closing in on signing Tel this week after a €60 million (£50.2m) fee was agreed with Bayern on Thursday. However, the 19-year-old has turned down a move to Spurs, even after the club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, travelled to Munich on Friday in an attempt to convince the French winger. According to Sky Germany, United have stepped up their efforts to sign Tel on loan as a replacement for Marcus Rashford, who is now set to join Aston Villa. The report adds that Aston Villa have also made an approach for Tel on Saturday morning, meanwhile, Arsenal remain interested but have not followed up with a move. But that doesn’t mean anything. ‘It’s quite possible that he’ll still be a Bayern Munich player on Tuesday. ‘He’s undecided. There’s been a lot going on with him in the last few days and he should now take his time to think things through.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page.
