Happy April 1st day to all of you that celebrate! Yes, that fun April Fool’s Day where you have to ignore anything that anyone says since you can’t trust them (well sort of). I may have played a sick joke on some friends today and my heart felt so good that they were kind and supportive. Then, I dropped the April Fool’s and only felt slightly bad.
In the world of health IT we usually have a wide variety of April Fool’s Day jokes, but this year seemed kind of light. However, the good people at Epic and DrFirst always seem to pull through with their jokes. Here’s a look at what they shared.
It seems this year’s theme was music. Epic took over there home page with multiple April Fool’s Day stories, but my favorite was the MyChart Care-oke:
Epic also launched Epic Aerospace with call backs to Judy’s famous t-shirt that says health IT is harder than rocket science. They also announced America’s Funniest Video Visits that showcases telehealth visits gone wrong. Not a bad idea actually…other than the HIPAA violation. I know telehealth docs have lots of stories. Finally, they announced a TikTok integration with Haiku, Canto, and Rover along with this TikTok video “Get Ready (for Rounds) With Me #GRRWM.”
DrFirst got in on the action with their announcement “DrFirst Enters the Music Industry with Debut Album ‘Prescription for Laughter: Songs to Unite the Healthiverse’.” G. Cameron Deemer, CEO of DrFirst described the album this way, “Many of us have heard a song that helped us see a familiar issue in a new way. That’s exactly why we created this album. We want to encourage fresh thinking about the daily frustrations people face in healthcare—things many have come to accept as ‘just the way it is.’ However, technology already exists to bring harmony to these pain points, which is music to the ear of everyone involved in creating good outcomes.”
Go and check out the various songs they created. My favorite is Hold, Please: Prior Authorization Blues.
Happy April Fool’s Day to you! We hope you had an amazing day.
