Acclaimed Shooter Is Just $0.99 on the PS Store for a Limited Time

It seems like every week the PlayStation Store has another sales promotion going on. This week’s promotion, titled “Critics’ Choice,” features deals on some of the most critically acclaimed games, including Astro Bot and Grand Theft Auto 5. But there is one game out of the hundreds featured that is almost literally a steal, costing just 99 cents.

Battlefield 1 is less than a single dollar on the PS Store

Electronic Arts’ critically acclaimed first-person shooter Battlefield 1 is currently a whopping 95% off its typical $19.99 price tag on the PS Store. This means players can grab the game for less than a pack of bubble gum. That is not an actual exaggeration. Bubble Yum, Juicy Fruit, and other popular gum brands are over a dollar at Walmart, unlike this fantastic shooter.

“Fight your way through epic battles ranging from tight urban combat in a besieged French city to the heavily defended mountain forts in the Italian Alps or frantic combats in the deserts of Arabia,” reads the game’s description on the PS Store. “Use innovative weaponry and vehicles as you battle across the land, air and sea, and adapt your tactics to earth-shattering destruction.”

It should be noted that this discount is only available for the base game. The deluxe version listed as Battlefield 1 Revolution is still $39.99.

Developed by Dice, Battlefield 1 originally launched in 2016 for PS4. It was a departure from the typical World War 2 and modern warfare setting, bringing its single-player campaign and multiplayer modes to World War 1.

Upon release, it garnered incredibly positive reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 88. On our review scale, that would be roughly a 9 out of 10, which is exactly what we gave it at the time.

“Though the ‘1’ in its name may officially stand for the Great War, it could also represent the rebirth of a franchise that took a bit of a beating with Battlefield 4, went down an awkward path with Hardline, before finally rising as the Battlefield title that simply all shooter fans must buy,” we said in our review.
