_J.L-A.L_ FW25 Draws Inspiration From a 1970s French Sci-Fi Film

Long before James Cameron's Avatar, René Laloux's animated film La Planète Sauvage (1973) featured blue-skinned humanoid aliens called Draags who ruled over humans captured from planet Earth. It's this historic sci-fi movie that inspired _J.L-A.L_'s otherworldly FW25 collection presented at Paris Fashion Week, which included new outerwear with Goldwin, sneakers from HOKA, and details made by artist Victoria Ohanyan. At first glance, the subtle references to the 1973 movie are easy to miss — there are no blue-skinned models or any overtly alien characteristics. However, upon closer inspection details like the bulbous headbands and intarsia patterns, recall the unique garb of the ruling aliens.  Additionally, pumpkin-shaped bucket bags and beaded accessories mimic the natural life forms found on the fictional planet "Ygam."  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jean-Luc A.
