7 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

DAWES – “I LOVE L.A.” (RANDY NEWMAN COVER)

If you watched the 2025 Grammys on Sunday night, you saw Dawes open the show with a cover of Randy Newman’s 1983 single “I Love L.A.” featuring St Vincent, Sheryl Crow, and more. The band tweaked a few of Newman’s more cynical lines to be a little more hopeful (and to include references to the first responders who helped with fighting the LA wildfires), but this studio version sticks closely to the original.

PUNCHLOVE – “(SUBLIMATE)”

Brooklyn shoegazers Punchlove have followed up last year’s Channels with this hypnotic new single. “I realized and then I couldn’t stop realizing,” says the band’s Jillian Olesen. “Ecliptic totality created a very stark before and after that felt a bit like suddenly noticing a portal in a room you’ve spent your whole life in that for better or worse, you now cannot unsee. This was my experience on the brink of that inflection point.”

BARKER – “REFRAMING”

Berlin-based producer and DJ Sam Barker has announced his new Barker album, Stochastic Drift, which will be out April 4 via Smalltown Supersound. It’s his first in six years. “I’d been working with an approach that was quite deliberate and goal-oriented before, but I realised this wasn’t so helpful in the context of uncertainty,” Barker says. “Being suddenly unemployed and stuck at home for an indefinite amount of time, with one disruption after another, it was like the target kept moving and I didn’t know what to aim at. I noticed this unpredictability starting to creep into what I was making, and tracks were ending up a long way from the intentions they started with. So the challenge for this record was to try to embrace that process, to let go of expectations.”

LADY GAGA – “ABRACADABRA”

After premiering it during a Grammys commercial break, Lady Gaga officially released her new song and video “Abracadabra” and revealed more details about her upcoming album Mayhem. Read more here.

DOECHII – “NOSEBLEEDS”

Doechii dominated at the Grammys, becoming the third woman to ever win the Best Rap Album Grammy and putting on one of the ceremony’s best performances, and then she dropped a victory-lap new single, “Nosebleeds.” Read more here.

BEINN – “PASSIONS OF GREAT MISFORTUNE”

Beinn, a new band led by Arty Shepherd (Mind Over Matter, Errortype:11, etc), have shared their debut single “Passions of Great Misfortune” and its video. Read more here.

IDLE HEIRS (COALESCE) – “RARE BIRD”

Idle Heirs, a new project from Coalesce vocalist Sean Ingram and producer Josh Barber (who’s worked with Norma Jean, The Casket Lottery, and others), announced their debut album for Relapse and shared their debut single. They also have an upcoming NYC show with the above-mentioned Beinn. Read more here.
