‘Withering Rooms’ Developer Announces Horror Action RPG ‘Withering Realms’ [Trailer]

Withering Rooms solo developer Moonless Formless has announced a new Horror Action RPG in Withering Realms, which is set to release into Early Access on Steam in Q4 2025. Withering Realms will then launch on consoles once it exits Early Access.

A new, independent story set in the same universe as Withering Rooms, Withering Realms takes place in 1926, ten years after an immense “occult event” halted the Great War and transformed the world overnight. The dead walk, spirits roam, and a gifted few can even cast spells. Clover, a 9-year-old girl, awakens alone in a decaying mansion just miles from the epicenter of the occult event, and soon discovers that she is a ghost.

Clover’s only companion is a strange doll cobbled out of wood, metal, and human remains. Together, they set out to explore the mysterious town of Penwyll and the sprawling graveyards that surround it, seeking a way to bring Clover back to life.

Players will descend into tombs, caves and rotting estates in search of treasure, upgrade materials and magical artifacts. Said materials can be used to craft weapons and machines to slot into the doll’s missing right arm, such as a Pivoting Greatsword, Chain Rock, Machinegun, or Flamethrower.

As you explore the town, you’ll expand the world map by defeating the massive perimeter guardians to open up new areas. Be careful, as returning to any area at night will have you encountering new foes, but also new secrets. Along the way, you’ll meet up with potential allies, such as the freelance investigator Althea, who will do anything to uncover the dark secrets of Penwyll.
