Volvo Car UX and Snapdragon Cockpit Platform comes to XC40, S60, V60, V90, EX40, EC40 starting this year

For the 2025 model year, Volvo has announced two main tech upgrades for several of its models, including the XC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, V90 Cross Country as well as the fully electric EX40 and EC40.

First up, the new-generation Volvo Car UX will be rolled out to the aforementioned models after first making its debut in the EX30, EX90 and facelifted XC90. The Swedish carmaker’s latest infotainment software will have Google services built-in and will be equipped to cars produced this year. Later in 2025, around 2.5 million customers will get Volvo Car UX via an over-the-air (OTA) software update, although this will be limited to cars built as early as 2020.

Volvo also said the infotainment system will be upgraded to the newer Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, which is claimed to be twice as fast, with a graphics generation that is up to ten times faster. The EX90 and EX30 already come with this system and other models will get it too, including the new XC90.

For Europe, Plug & Charge will be added to the EX30, EX40 and EC40. The authentication and billing system simplifies the charging experience by making it easy for owners to find compatible charging stations using Google Maps in the car’s centre display or the Volvo Cars app.

These stations identify the car and its associated payment method as soon as the charging cable is connected, with charging starting automatically without the need for additional cards or authentication.
