UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell has apologised for ‘sounding insensitive’ and insists he is ‘not a Nazi’ after calling Adolf Hitler a ‘good guy’.

Mitchell was widely condemned for his shocking comments, which he made on the first episode of his new podcast.

‘I honestly think Hitler was a good guy, based upon my own research, not my public education and indoctrination,’ said the 30-year-old.

‘He fought for his country, he wanted to purify it by kicking the greedy Jews out who were destroying his country and turning them all into gays.’

UFC president Dana White said he was ‘beyond disgusted’ by Mitchell’s antisemitic, homophobic and transphobic rant but would not be punishing the fighter.

‘I’ve heard a lot of dumb, ignorant s*** in my day, but this one’s probably the worst,’ White said during a press conference last week.

‘We have reached out to Bryce to let him know how we feel. We’re beyond disgusted.’

Asked whether Mitchell would face any sanctions from the UFC, White added: ‘That’s what everyone wants to hear but, free speech.

‘I don’t have to love it, you don’t have to love it. You know where I stand with free speech.’

Mitchell has since apologised, claiming he ‘was not trying to offend anybody’ and ‘knows Hitler did a lot of evil things’.

‘I’m sorry I sounded insensitive,’ he said in a statement on Instagram. ‘I definitely was not trying to offend anybody, but I know I did.

‘I know that a lot of people died in the Holocaust, and that’s a fact. Hitler did a lot of evil things, I think we can agree on that.

‘I’m definitely not a Nazi, and definitely do not condone any of the evil things Hitler did.’

Hitler’s Nazi regime was responsible for the genocide of an estimated six million Jews and millions of other victims the German dictator deemed socially undesirable.

Mitchell fights in the featherweight division of the UFC and boasts a record of 19 wins and two defeats. He was on the UFC 310 card in December, beating Kron Gracie with his first knockout in professional MMA.

It is not the first time Mitchell has caused controversy; last year he revealed he intended to home-school his young son because he ‘doesn’t want him to be gay’.

‘We’re going to have to home-school all our kids or they’re all going to end up turning gay,’ he said in an Instagram video while holding his son.

‘That’s the reason I’m going to home-school Tucker, because I don’t want him to be a communist. I don’t want him to worship Satan. I don’t want him to be gay.’

Mitchell, who believes the earth is flat, previously urged his nearly 500,000 followers not to vaccinate their children.
