His work with QB Will Howard has now earned Kelly an NFL return on a huge contract. He has signed a league-leading $6million annual deal, according to Sports Illustrated. Per Front Office Sports, the previous best-paid offensive coordinators were Todd Monken (Baltimore Ravens and Mike Kakfa (New York Giants) on $3million annually. The 61-year-old Kelly has never been a coordinator in the NFL and does represent a gamble after struggling as a head coach – going 28-35 in four seasons. But he has a stellar record on offense, with his Eagles ranking in the top five for points and yards per game in 2013 and 2014, and has done enough in college for the Raiders to roll the dice.
