Samsung is preparing to launch its next-gen foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, later this year. However, if you were expecting a groundbreaking upgrade, you might be disappointed. Rumors suggest the handset won’t bring any major innovations but will instead refine the existing Fold lineup with incremental upgrades.

In fact, according to the information shared on X by @TheGalox_, the new phone is said to be based on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. For those unfamiliar, this is an upgraded version of the Fold 6 that Samsung launched in select countries last year. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will essentially be a global version of this device. This will bring those upgrades to a wider audience.

This includes a larger vapor chamber to help with cooling. It will also introduce a faster chipset, which presumably will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. The original Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it’s safe to assume Samsung will utilize the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite for this year’s model.

We can also look forward to a larger display. This will go from 7.6-inches in the Fold 6 to 8-inches in the Fold 7. Users can expect upgraded cameras, with the main shooter going from 50MP to 200MP.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and a new tri-folding Samsung foldable. This launch event, rumored for later this year, although Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
