Hi friends! How are you? I hope you’re having an amazing week so far. We had to drag our mattress downstairs to sleep on the living room floor while they work upstairs, so sleep has been a little interesting lol. But other than that, all is well here.

We’re making some huge improvements around the house for aesthetic and health purposes. When I found out our sofa and carpet both had mold, it was time for them to go. Water filtration is something that you can easily do for your health—I can do a post about my favorite filters for drinking!—but it’s easy to forget about the water you and your family use to bathe. You may have heard people rave about filtered shower heads, but are they actually worth the investment?

For today’s post, I wanted to talk about why you might want to filter your shower and bath water, and the best home shower filter that I’ve found: Canopy!

Why should you filter your shower and bath water?

When we shower, the water we use is absorbed into our skin. We’re also breathing in the vapors of this water, often in an enclosed space. You can check out the quality of your local tap water here. (Tucson’s is horrible.)

How To Replace Shower Filter Cartridge:

Replacing a shower filter cartridge can feel tricky and intimidating if you’re new to the experience. Fortunately, Canopy makes it an extremely quick and easy process!

Take Off the Faceplate: Gently push the outer rim of your shower head upwards until you hear a click. Once you hear that click, twist it counterclockwise to take the faceplate off. If you’ve had the shower head for a while and there’s buildup or grime, try soaking it in warm, soapy water and then try again.

Discard the Old Filter: Once you remove the faceplate, place it on a flat surface and twist the cap counterclockwise to open it. Take off the old filter and discard it.

Add a New Filter: Put your new filter into the correct spot. Make sure that the wider side is facing downwards! Twist the cap back on in a clockwise direction until the arrows on the cap align.

Put the Faceplate Back On: Gently press the faceplate back into the shower head body until you hear it click. If you notice it’s not easily going on, go back ensure that you fully tightened the cap. Once you hear that click, you’re done!

My experience: (and the girls’ experience):

We all noticed an immediate difference in how our skin and hair feels. P said that her hair felt softer, and Liv, who is really starting to get into skincare, was 100% on board with how her skin feels. My hair felt lighter—no more heaviness—and I feel like it stayed clean longer after washing it. (I usually only wash my hair 2x a week) The water pressure was great—it has three settings—we all have very thick, long hair.

Aesthetically, it’s SO pretty, too! I can’t wait to order one for our other shower.
