Jeremy Allen White, who stars in “The Bear,” is attached to star in and executive produce the Netflix limited series “Enigma Variations” which is currently in development.
The story is an adaptation of the novel by author André Aciman whose work “Call Me By Your Name” became Luca Guadagnino’s celebrated Oscar-winning 2017 film that helped launch Timothée Chalamet’s career.
The story charts the life of a bisexual man named Paul, whose loves remain as consuming and as covetous throughout his adulthood as it was in his adolescence.
In southern Italy as a boy, he had a crush on his parents’ cabinetmaker. In a snowbound campus in New England, his enduring passion for a girl he’ll meet repeatedly over the years is punctuated by anonymous encounters with men,
His attachments are ungraspable, transient, and forever underwritten by raw desire.
Amanda Kate Shuman (“The Wheel of Time,” “Berlin Station”) is attached to serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, while Oliver Hermanus (“Living,” “Mary & George”) is set to direct and executive produce. Aciman and White will also executive produce.
White most recently shot a Bruce Springsteen biopic titled “Deliver Me from Nowhere” due out later this year, and will provide the voice of a Hutt in the upcoming “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie.
