Tesla Plans Significant Price Hike for Canadian Buyers
The Canadian-U.S. Dollar exchange rate often means that products are more expensive in one country than the other, but upcoming Tesla price changes north of the border may push that concept to the extreme. The automaker plans to increase Canadian pricing on February 1, making them significantly more expensive for our neighbors to the north.

The Tesla Model 3 will see the most significant pricing increase, jumping as much as $6,200 ($9,000 Canadian). Tesla’s remaining vehicles will increase by up to $2,750 ($4,000 Canadian). Interestingly, Cybertruck pricing will remain unchanged.
In normal Tesla fashion, there is no public relations or media team to reach out to for comment, so we have no idea why the price changes are coming. The company could be preemptively adjusting numbers to cope with what are expected to be disruptive tariffs from the Trump administration. The White House has promised tariffs on Canadian goods and the country has threatened to respond in kind, which would impact pricing on vehicles heading north.
Like Americans, Canadians enjoyed decent EV incentives, though their tax credits were not as aggressive as ours. Buyers in the country could receive up to $3,500 ($5,000 Canadian) for new EV purchases, but the program was stopped due to a “surge of interest.” Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that removing the American EV tax credits would hurt the automaker less than others, but big changes often come with bumps for everyone involved.
