Subaru Announces the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid

The Subaru Crosstrek got a full redesign for the 2024 model year, but the automaker waited a while to debut the updated Crosstrek Hybrid. It’s coming later in 2025 as a 2026 model-year crossover, bringing a new Subaru engine and plenty of safety equipment.

The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid gets a “newly developed” 2.5-liter Boxer four-cylinder engine and electric motors that make a combined 194 horsepower. As with most other Subarus, all-wheel drive comes standard, and the Hybrid retains its gas-only counterpart’s 8.7 inches of ground clearance.

Subaru will offer a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.6-inch touchscreen comes standard. While it offers a generous number of desirable features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Subaru piled most other vehicle controls into the touchscreen, including climate and other settings, making it confusing and clunky to use in some situations.

EyeSight Driver Assist tech comes standard, which includes updated software and an improved field of vision for earlier alerts and interventions. The package comes with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts and lane-change assist is available.

The new Crosstrek Hybrid won’t look much different from the standard model, but Subaru will offer two exclusive colors: Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl. Pricing details will become available closer to the vehicle’s launch in late 2025.
