Study: Divorce hurts children's long-term earnings, increases chances of teen births, time in jail

American children whose parents divorce when they are 5 or younger have marked disadvantages over the course of life, including reduced earnings and an increased likelihood of experiencing a teen pregnancy, incarceration and early death, according to new research led in part by a University of Maryland economist.
