Taiwanese carrier Starlux Airlines has opened a special redemption promotion for tickets to North America in Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class for members to enjoy when redeeming their COSMILE’s.

The program also addes two shorthaul routes to Hong Kong as well as Macau that can be redeemed for very low mileage (although these routes are usually cheap to begin with).

You can access this offer on the Starlux Airlines COSMILE website here.

To celebrate the increase in flights to daily service starting March 1, 2025, on the Seattle route, STARLUX Airlines is offering a limited-time promotion from February 3 to April 30, 2025.

You can redeem a one-way ticket to San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle for only 35,000 miles.

The North America portion of this campaign appears to be the most lucrative one given that long haul flights represent the best value in premium class.

You can also redeem flights to Hong Kong and Macau, but really, this is such a short hop that it’s almost not worth it flying premium class, and these flights are usually rather cheap.

Mind you, you can also redeem flights for Starlux Airlines via Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan:

Alaska Airlines Awards On STARLUX Now Available

The Starlux flights are quite expensive through Alaska Airlines, so I wouldn’t recommend them, although it’s more likely that someone has miles with Alaska Airlines than Starlux itself unless you have flown the airline a lot before.

I’m not exactly sure how people are supposed to earn that many Cosmile miles other than flying very frequently on Starlux. Even with the help of family accounts and mileage pooling.

Conclusion

Members of the Starlux Airlines Cosmile Program have the opportunity to redeem miles with the program for a special set of routes at preferred rates, most notably the long-haul routes to North America as well as Hong Kong and Macau.

While Starlux is a nice airline to fly on I’m still a bit taken back by the Cosmile program. There don’t appear to be many (or ANY) ways to collect miles outside of flying. Not even a credit card partner for residents of Taiwan. So the only way to accumulate enough flights for an award seems to be flying which in a way really means that loyalty to Starlux is rewarded rather than pandering to big credit card spenders.

It’s not a bad concept, but for an airline with a limited route network, it’s quite a task to rack up substantial amounts of award miles without at least travel partners to cushion the balance.

These are the terms & conditions for this promotion:

※ Applicable Issue Date for Hong Kong and Macau routes:October 1, 2024 – February 28, 2025 (Based on the time zone of the departure city of the first segment of the itinerary.)

The mileage redemption standard is only applicable for online redemption through the STARLUX Airlines official website / APP, and is only valid for one-way or round-trip tickets between Taiwan and the aforementioned destinations.

The promotion is not applicable for itineraries with stopovers, open-jaws, connecting flights, or combinations of different cabin classes. The request to change routes and cabin classes after tickets are issued will not be accepted.

Passengers may contact STARLUX customer service for below circumstances and the original redemption standard will be followed.
