Report: Braves finalizing deal with OF Jurickson Profar

After making his first career All-Star Game in 2024, Jurickson Profar is cashing in.

Profar is finalizing a free-agent contract with the Atlanta Braves, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Thursday.

Profar, 31, is coming off a career-best season with the San Diego Padres, in which he slashed .280/.380/.459 with 24 home runs, 85 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

Formerly MLB’s top prospect while a member of the Texas Rangers organization, Profar was unable to turn his status as one of baseball’s top young talents into on-field production. However, he finally broke through in 2024, earning his All-Star nod and a National League Silver Slugger Award.

San Diego proved to be a great spot for Profar to turn his career around, as he has found most of his professional success with the Padres over the past five seasons.

Profar hit free agency in 2023 and eventually signed with the Colorado Rockies, but after a putrid 111-game stretch, they released the Curacao native. He ended up re-signing in San Diego for the last two months of the season and posted respectable numbers upon his return.

Last off-season, back in free agency, Profar didn’t sign until Feb. 24, inking a one-year, $1 million contract to return to the Padres. It proved to be one of the best bargains in baseball.

Profar enters his 12 MLB season in 2025, having spent time with the Padres, Rockies, Rangers and Athletics. He has played in 1119 games and has a career .726 OPS, 111 homers, 444 RBIs, 195 doubles and 57 stolen bases.
