New-look Durazno International Airport set for 10 February opening

URUGUAY. Aeropuertos Uruguay is set to unveil the revamped Durazno International Airport on 10 February.
This marks the sixth airport modernisation project under the National System of International Airports development plan.
The inauguration will be attended by President Luis Lacalle Pou, along with other national and local authorities and representatives from Aeropuertos Uruguay.
As part of the upgrades, the company enhanced aviation infrastructure, constructed a new passenger terminal and installed modern technology and equipment to ensure compliance with top international safety and service standards.
The inauguration follows Aeropuertos Uruguay’s 2023 installation of a new radar system with advanced technology, providing full coverage of the national airspace, and a new Category I Instrument Landing System (ILS).
Aeropuertos Uruguay, a subsidiary of the Corporación América Airports group, manages the national airport network. This includes Carrasco and Punta del Este airports, as well as Carmelo, Rivera, Salto, Melo, Durazno and Paysandú, all of which have been modernised by the company in the past two years.
