More drivers confirmed in updated FIA WEC entry list

A third version of the 2025 FIA WEC full-season entry has been published today, featuring a number of new additions to the driver columns.

In Hypercar, Proton’s 963 trio have been named, with former WEC title winner Neel Jani set to be joined by former United Autosports LMGT3 driver Nico Pino and 2023 GTE Am champion and Le Mans class winner Nico Varrone both signed for the season.

“Yes it’s true, it’s a full season in WEC, I’m absolutely delighted,” Varrone told RACER.

Proton co-owner Christian Ried added that Varrone looks set to add multiple IMSA appearances to his WEC program with the team later in the season, after competing at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Sebring for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller in GTD PRO.

Peugeot has also revealed the driver combinations for its 9X8s. In the No. 93 Paul di Resta, Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Eric Vergne will team up. The sister No. 94 will see Loic Duval, new full-season driver Malthe Jakobsen, and Stoffel Vandoorne share driving duties.

In LMGT3, Christian Ried is a surprise addition to Iron Lynx’s Mercedes line-up. He will take up the bronze seat in the No. 61 AMG LMGT3 EVO for the German brand’s first season in WEC. His teammates are not yet confirmed.

“It feels great to be back,” Ried said. “It will be fun and interesting to compete in a brand-new car for me.”

Lexus team AKKODIS ASP’s has also named its bronze drivers. Arnold Robin is set to return to drive the No. 78 and Petru Razvan Umbrarescu will join the No. 87 team for ASP’s second season with the RC F LMGT3. The team still has yet to confirm its silver drivers.
