Mei Semones announces debut album & tour, shares “Dumb Feeling”

The very talented Mei Semones has announced her debut album, Animaru, which will be out May 2 via Bayonet Records. It follows last year’s terrific Kabutomushi EP.

The album includes “Dangomushi,” which was released as a single in October, and she’s shared a new song, “Dumb Feeling,” which mixes gentle, string-laden tropicalia with less gentle indie rock. The video for the song shows a typical day in her life in NYC, “running around the city, rehearsing with my band, taking the train back & forth between Manhattan and Brooklyn,” adding, “I wanted the video to represent what the song means to me — my love, gratitude, and contentment with the city, my friends here, the music we make, and the charming chaos here, like the screeching trains and the rats & pigeons.”

Watch the video below.

Mei will be on tour with Hippo Campus starting Wednesday, February 5 at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. She’s just announced spring headline shows that kick off with an album release party at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 7. Tickets for all headline shows go on sale Friday, February 7 at 10 AM local time.

You can also catch Mei opening for Panchiko in the UK and Europe. All dates are listed below
