Marriott No Longer Allows Mixed Reservations (Points & Cash) On Its Website

Marriott has allowed Bonvoy members to customize their stays on its website by allowing you to book reservations with combined paid and award nights, but this has now ended.

You can still buy points during the award booking process OR make Points & Cash reservations with separate cash and point components (remember that the cash portion won’t earn you any points).

You can still make these bookings that combine paid and award nights, but only if you call Marriott Bonvoy customer service:

On January 16, 2025, the functionality to book a Cash + Points Reservation (allows Guest to customize their Points and Cash use by Night) on the Marriott website was ended.

If you wish to book this way, you will have to call in and speak with reservations over the phone.

Conclusion

I don’t think anyone wishes to call customer service in 2025 but would make these bookings themselves on the website or through their app.

There must be a reason behind this move, as Marriott certainly prefers that members not call them. This ability should still be available through their contact centers.

I have never booked a reservation that combined award and paid nights, but there are certainly instances where something like this would make sense, such as a longer stay where you prefer paying cash for some of the nights for promotional or price reasons.
