Patrick Dorgu could be handed his debut when Manchester United take on Leicester City in their FA Cup fourth round clash on Friday night.

United made signing a left wing-back a top priority during the January transfer window with the 20-year-old joining from Lecce in a deal worth an initial £25million fee.

Amorim has so far had to make do with makeshift solutions in what he regards as a key area of the pitch but with a natural option now at his disposal, he will be eager to get him into the team as soon as possible.

The United boss will be without another important player for what could be an extended period however after Lisandro Martinez was stretchered off during Sunday’s defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Argentina international was in agony as he left the pitch with reports confirming a worse-case scenario – a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee which could sideline him for up to eight months.

As a natural left-footer capable of passing through the lines, Martinez has been a vital component in Amorim’s three at the back system.

Luke Shaw will be an option to replace him but the England international has not started a match for his club in almost a year.

With Jonny Evans also still absent, January signing Ayden Heaven is another possible option. The 18-year-old was brought in from Arsenal, regarded as a signing for the first-team to provide cover for Martinez. Amorim could opt to fast-track him into his starting XI.

16-year-old Godwill Kukonki could be another possibility, a natural left-sided centre-half who impressed Amorim following his arrival in Manchester in November.

Amorim dropped both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee from his starting XI against Palace last Sunday, instead trialling Kobbie Mainoo in a false nine role.

The experiment failed but given neither striker has found the net in 2025, the United boss may be tempted to further tinker with his attacking options.

Altay Bayindir will hope to return in goal after his heroics in the third round win over Arsenal at the Emirates.

How United could line up on Friday night…

United will be coming up against Leicester for the third time this season having already put eight goals past them in league and Carabao Cup.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was in charge for those games as interim boss and will now find himself back at Old Trafford as the Leicester boss looking to inflict more misery on his old side.

Predicted Man Utd XI to face Leicester

Bayindir, de Ligt, Maguire, Mazraoui, Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dorgu, Fernandes, Diallo, Hojlund
