John Malkovich, Mark Ruffalo and Parker Posey are all set to join Sam Rockwell in the cast of “In Bruges” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” director Martin McDonagh’s next film “Wild Horse Nine”.
Filming kicks off in March on Rapa Nui (Easter Island), the most remote inhabited island on Earth and a protected Chilean wildlife area known for its famous statues.
Story specifics are under wraps but McDonagh indicated in interviews last year his next project would have an island setting and that island would ‘be a character’ of the film.
After their success together on “The Banshees of Inisherin” which scored nine Oscar nominations, McDonagh is re-teaming with Searchlight Pictures, Blueprint Pictures and Film4 for this project.
Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin and Anita Overland are producing. Oscar Isaac and Christopher Walken were originally attached to the project a while back but are no longer involved.
Malkovich will next be seen in this year’s “Opus” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Mark Ruffalo in this year’s “Mickey 17” and “Now You See Me 3,” and Parker Posey in the upcoming third season of HBO’s “The White Lotus”.
