The other day came a report from The InSneider indicating that according to his sources, “Eternals” and “Silicon Valley” star Kumail Nanjiani had been cast in the second season of Amazon Prime’s “Fallout” series.
Specifics of the role are under wraps, but it marks another job for the busy actor of late following roles in “Welcome to Chippendales,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” “Only Murders in the Building” and the upcoming Naughty Dog video game “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet”.
Reaction to the potential casting has been quite varied and has dominated discourse on the Fallout TV show Reddit page since it was revealed. Some really feel he suits the world of the games on screen; others, however, aren’t so much fans.
All are speculating as to what role he could be up for and the extent of it in the second season. The “Fallout” production team has yet to confirm Kumail Nanjiani’s involvement, unlike the confirmation of Macaulay Culkin’s casting for the new season.
Filming for the second season is taking place in Los Angeles and Toronto with California offering a $25 million tax incentive to the series. Shooting commenced in December but hit pause a few weeks back due to the ongoing Los Angeles fires.
It’s not clear as yet how the tragedy in California will impact the overall production schedule for the series, but either way the new season isn’t expected to hit screens until 2026.
