A new job listing has fans convinced that Microsoft is preparing to release Perfect Dark for PS5 alongside Xbox platforms and PC. Although the company has made it clear that it plans to pursue a multiplatform release strategy going forward, fans continue to look for clues about unannounced PS5 ports.

Why fans think Perfect Dark is releasing on PS5

The Initiative — who is developing Perfect Dark with support from Crystal Dynamics — recently published a job ad in which it specifically mentions multiplatform development work for the upcoming action-adventure shooter. This has convinced some folks that Perfect Dark will land on the PS5 alongside other platforms, possibly day-one.

“Optimize and ensure the scalability of the rendering features to support multiple platforms and quality settings,” reads the job description, which specifically seeks candidates who have “experience with multi-platform development.”

We don’t want to sound like naysayers, but this job ad probably isn’t what fans think it is. Perfect Dark is already a multiplatform game as it’s been confirmed for PC. It’s unlikely that this job ad is specifically for the PS5 port that’ll inevitably happen.

That said, at this point, the only news that may surprise us is Microsoft announcing day-and-date PS5 ports.
