IAADFS reveals further conference details for Summit of the Americas

AMERICAS. The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) has announced further details about the conference sessions at the 2025 Summit of the Americas, which takes place on 8-11 March in Miami.

In addition to keynote speaker John Price, Managing Director of Americas Market Intelligence (AMI), who leads off the conference session programme on the morning of Sunday, 9 March, there will be four workshop sessions during the Summit.

The Moodie Davitt Report and Airport Restaurant & Retail Association are co-organising one session themed around the viability of airport concessions and how our sector can evolve a business model that works for all parties. This will take place on Monday 10 March. More details to follow shortly.

A session on the cruise retail sector will be organised on Sunday 9 March by DFNI – details to come.

The InterContinental Miami will host the Summit of the Americas as it moves to a new location this year

Sunday will also feature a session from 3pm titled ‘Airports: Major Challenges and Unlimited Opportunities’. Speakers will include Airports Council International (ACI) Latin America & Caribbean Director General Rafael Echevarne and ACI North America Executive Vice President Matt Cornelius.

They will discuss the challenges and growth demands that must be met in the airport environment. Airports remain the largest revenue source for travel retail and associated duty-free sales overall throughout the region, but is that growth curve likely to continue historic trends, they will ask? The session will be moderated by IAADFS Chairman Rene Riedi with the opportunity for audience participation.

On Monday morning at 9.30, an Americas edition of the TR Consumer Forum will take place, organised by TRBusiness and data partner m1nd-set. This is titled ‘Unlocking Footfall and Conversion: The Power of Experiential Retail in Duty Free and Travel Retail’.

The session will explore how experiential retail can be leveraged effectively to help drive footfall and conversion in the channel. Speakers will include m1nd-set Founder & CEO Dr. Peter Mohn, Vantage Group Vice President, Commercial and Midway Partnership CEO Sammy Patel and Kounter Retail Managing Director Andy Machin, with moderation by TRBusiness Managing Editor Faye Bartle.

The one-hour session will begin with research from m1nd-set on the motivating factors for today’s travelling shoppers, with the other industry experts set to discuss the challenges and opportunities around integrating experiential retail into the offering. ✈
