The transformation of Albergo Posta Marcucci, part of the Casa Costa 1956 collection, continues its evolution from a historic village inn to a refined luxury retreat. The hotel is set to reopen as a five-star property under new name, La Posta, in March 2025.

On January 6, Albergo Posta Marcucci closed its doors to begin the final phase of its transformation. The reopening, scheduled for March 7 2025, will reveal not only a five-star upgrade but also a fresh identity as La Posta. The new name preserves the property’s historical roots while adopting a streamlined, globally accessible sound. As La Posta, the property aligns itself with La Perla in Corvara, Dolomites, another five-star hotel in the Casa Costa 1956 collection, reflecting a vision of unpretentious luxury deeply connected to local traditions, landscapes, and a commitment to guest care.

A timeless retreat in Bagno Vignoni

La Posta in Bagno Vignoni, nestled within the UNESCO-protected Val d’Orcia countryside, is steeped in history. The village, known for its thermal waters and medieval bath at its centre, offers a sanctuary of deep calm away from crowds. This tranquillity is emblematic of Casa Costa’s ethos, characterised by attention to detail and charming quirky touches that elevate the guest experience.

La Posta welcomes guests seeking serenity, wellness, culture, history and exceptional dining experiences. It is a small haven of warm hospitality, thermal pools, and panoramic views from its surrounding park or the expansive windows of its 35 newly refurbished rooms. The rooms honour local artisanship while embracing contemporary design, embodying sophisticated and conscious luxury for guests seeking both calm and active wellness. The property serves as an ideal starting point for exploring Tuscany’s poetic landscapes on foot or by bike and discovering the hilltop villages before returning to relax in its spa.

Mindful luxury

La Posta’s five-star status is accompanied by a firm commitment to gentle, environmentally respectful tourism, reflecting the values of the Economy for the Common Good. Its “farm-to-table” food philosophy, led by Chef Matteo Antoniello, highlights the use of local ingredients to craft unique gastronomic experiences, showcasing the hotel’s deep connection to the region. Like the other properties in the Casa Costa 1956 collection, La Posta supports the Costa Family Foundation’s mission to protect and promote children’s rights globally.

A legacy of hospitality

The story of La Posta began in 1956 with the Marcucci family and continues under the stewardship of the Costa family, who acquired the property in 2017. The hotel’s journey balances tradition with contemporary innovation, preserving its heritage while embracing modern luxury. This jewel within the Casa Costa 1956 collection grows not in size but in intrinsic value: genuine hospitality, refined quality, and an offering that transcends tourism.

“This house, nestled in the heart of Bagno Vignoni in Tuscany, holds a rich history: once a “post station” for letters and horses, it was cared for by the Marcucci family from the mid-1800s, offering travellers rest and shelter within its walls. It also owes its legacy to the precious thermal water that flows behind the building, filling the large pool overlooking the Rocca d’Orcia since the 1970s. Threads and stories weave their way to us and our Costa family: from the Dolomites to Val d’Orcia, from La Perla to La Posta. One shared heartbeat of hospitality, excellence, and beauty.” comments Michil Costa, owner and CEO.
