USA. HKG Duty Free has struck an agreement to manage the duty-free concession at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Founded in 1977 in Laredo, Texas, HKG Duty Free is currently headquartered in Miami, Florida. Under the leadership of President Ross Khaledi, HKG Duty Free has grown from an electronics distribution company to running shops on the US-Mexico border, airport concessions in Mexico and now with a focus on US airport retail.

The airport’s duty-free store originally opened as part of the 2019 Nine-Gate Expansion project. HKG will soon mark its official opening at the location.

Miami-based, fast-casual, minority-owned eatery Half Moon Empanadas has opened under a JV partnership with Delaware North. It is the first sit-down hot food concession to open on the non-secure side of the airport since COVID-19.

Delaware North has also opened a concept under the name of well-known Austin blues club Antone’s, which opens its first airport outlet as it marks its 50^th anniversary.
