You already know I’m going to mention the Craftsman 230-piece Versastack mechanic’s tool set that’s on sale for $99.00 at Lowe’s. I’ve had it in my collection for years now and have used it for a ton of major projects, and it’s even served as the centerpiece of the roadside tools I keep in the trunk of my ’69 Charger. It’s honestly my favorite mechanic’s tool set on the market for DIYers and I can’t recommend it enough to my peers.

If you’re looking for something a little more economical but still with a decent spread, the DeWalt 108-Piece Mechanic’s Tool Set for $69.00 at Home Depot is another great choice. While there aren’t any combination wrenches, it does cover all the bases with a decent selection of sockets, hex keys, and bits. There’s also this Neiko 3/8-Inch-Drive Impact Socket Set for $64.97 at Amazon for those in need of something to go with their power tools.
