Daniel Goldburg was fastest in the seventh and final session of IMSA’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona, which was reserved for Bronze-rated WeatherTech Championship drivers.

The United Autosports driver reeled off a 1:40.613 second lap at the end of the session to out-pace a charging George Kurtz by 0.245 seconds.

United’s Nick Boulle was third-fastest despite spending time at the top of the times early on. Inter Europol Competition’s Jon Field was fourth quickest, with Steven Thomas rounding out the top-five for TDS Racing.

The LMP2 class was extremely tight, with multiple teams taking turns at the top of the timing sheets, and drivers improving on their best times all the way through the end of the session on a drying racetrack.

Twenty Bronze drivers navigated a slightly condensed 1 hour and 23-minute session on a damp track following a revised Sunday schedule after severe weather in the surrounding area delayed operations this morning.

Anthony McIntosh was the fastest of the GT cars aboard his GTD class No. 19 Van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, with his 1:48.459 lap time at the end of the session besting Kenny Habul’s GTD Pro class SunEnergy1 Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

John Potter was the third fastest GT3-based car and second-quickest in GTD in the No. 44 Magnus Racing Aston Martin.

Bronze drivers from all classes were invited to participate in the final Roar testing session at Daytona International Speedway, resulting in Habul and Proton Competition’s Claudio Schiavoni turning laps in their GTD Pro class entries in a field otherwise composed of LMP2 and GTD machinery.

A red flag briefly halted running with just over 20 minutes remaining after Tobias Lütke struck a tire bundle at the exit of the Le Mans Chicane, damaging the front end of his No. 18 Era Motorsport machine. The track went green with just under 18 minutes to go.

While a handful of other drivers spun throughout the session, running was not interrupted again.

Track action for the WeatherTech Championship’s Rolex 24 race week begins on Thursday
