GmbH FW25 Goes With Grace

German fashion label GmbH is known best for its Berghain bangers like PVC trousers and flirty sportswear subversions, but on the Berlin Fashion Week stage this Sunday evening, the brand’s Fall 2025 manifesto was much more level-headed.“In serious times—and we are living in very serious, even terrifying times—fashion can seem frivolous,” founders and fashioners Benjamin A. Huseby and Serhat Işik wrote in their show notes. “How can creativity survive under such conditions? How can we find purpose in our work as fashion designers?”Inspired by Norwegian modernist poet Gunvor Hofmo’s "From Another Reality," the collection was broken into two parts, suggesting that we live in parallel worlds. “We see the same things, but we do not perceive them the same,” Işik explained backstage of the darkly elegant line.On the runway, the first half of the line was sullenly regal—think big black fur coats, form-swallowing leather jackets, hooded blazers, lace neck coverings, formal ties and knee-high riding boots. Part two, meanwhile, was more vivid: knit tops boasted text reading "Refuse To Trade With the Enemy," while head-turning overcoats appeared in firetruck red and bomber jackets ballooned like protective shields.Zoom in across the collection, and you'll see that most models carried prayer bracelets in their hands, much like those that the designers’ fathers hold with them to this day. While mourning might be part of the duo’s answer to their pressing questions above, it was clear that grace—a shared push to maintain poise amid trying times—was woven into their fashion’s DNA.See GmbH's Fall/Winter 2025 collection in the gallery above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more Berlin Fashion Week coverage. View this post on Instagram A post shared by HYPEBEAST (@hypebeast)Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast

“In serious times—and we are living in very serious, even terrifying times—fashion can seem frivolous,” founders and fashioners Benjamin A. Huseby and Serhat Işik wrote in their show notes. “How can creativity survive under such conditions? How can we find purpose in our work as fashion designers?”

Inspired by Norwegian modernist poet Gunvor Hofmo’s "From Another Reality," the collection was broken into two parts, suggesting that we live in parallel worlds. “We see the same things, but we do not perceive them the same,” Işik explained backstage of the darkly elegant line.

On the runway, the first half of the line was sullenly regal—think big black fur coats, form-swallowing leather jackets, hooded blazers, lace neck coverings, formal ties and knee-high riding boots. Part two, meanwhile, was more vivid: knit tops boasted text reading "Refuse To Trade With the Enemy," while head-turning overcoats appeared in firetruck red and bomber jackets ballooned like protective shields.

Zoom in across the collection, and you'll see that most models carried prayer bracelets in their hands, much like those that the designers’ fathers hold with them to this day. While mourning might be part of the duo’s answer to their pressing questions above, it was clear that grace—a shared push to maintain poise amid trying times—was woven into their fashion’s DNA.
