Check out the full results and payouts here. For the fourth straight year, the Farmers Insurance Open ended on a Saturday, avoiding a conflict with the NFL’s AFC Championship on Sunday. NFL fans have to hope that the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs produce more fireworks than the action golf fans saw at Torrey Pines — although that should not be a difficult task. The final round on the South Course turned into a slow grind, with the final group needing five hours and 29 minutes to finish their rounds. Fifty-four-hole leader Harris English held on for the win, playing steady golf on a challenging day to win the fifth PGA Tour title of his career. He made a couple of bogies early, dropping shots at the 1st and 5th holes to give plenty of others hope. But after bouncing back with a birdie at the par-5 6th, English closed with 12 straight pars to remain at 8-under par for the championship and win by one. Andrew Novak matched his score when they made the turn, but he stumbled down the stretch with two bogies on the back nine. Novak, who has yet to win on tour, looked a little shaky at times, a testament to his inexperience in this spot. English, meanwhile, looked as calm as ever, hitting the right shot after right shot to secure the victory. Farmers Insurance Open Leaderboard & Payout: 1. Harris English -8 — $1,674,000 2.
