The Anaheim Ducks will be without their No. 1 goalie as they go for their second straight win Saturday against the Nashville Predators.
John Gibson was ruled out by the team with an upper-body injury to begin the second period and was replaced by Lukas Dostal.
It’s unclear exactly how the injury occurred, as Gibson played the entire first period, stopping nine of the 10 shots he saw.
The 31-year-old has been posting solid numbers for the 19-23-6 Ducks, carrying a 2.76 goals-against average and .913 save percentage into Saturday’s game.
Teams in need of goaltending help will surely be paying attention to Gibson’s status going forward, as the Pittsburgh native could be a sought-after trade candidate at this year’s deadline. Originally selected by the Ducks in the 2011 draft, Gibson has spent his entire 12-year career in Anaheim.
After Saturday’s tilt with the Predators, the Ducks head out for a two-game road trip, starting Tuesday in Seattle.
