Creating Curated + Beautiful Kitchens That Inspire With Cabbonet

Over the past few decades, the kitchen has morphed into a home’s epicenter. Kitchens are where stories unfold, meals are prepared, and memories are made. But as Los Angeles faces the aftermath of devastating wildfires, it’s not just the homes that have been lost – it’s the kitchens, the very heart of so many families’ lives.

In the face of such destruction, many have learned that when time is short, we don’t need much to survive. Yet, what we choose to keep and use – those intentional objects – hold meaning. As Angelenos begin the long and arduous process of rebuilding, creating spaces that inspire, and comfort is more important than ever.

On a recent visit to Cabbonet, a British design brand specializing in beautifully crafted kitchens, I couldn’t help but notice the curated collection of objects on display throughout the space. One might say, this is not what I should have been noticing. But I think it’s a testament to what Cabbonet does so beautifully, showcasing fine artisanal craftmanship to create a stage for one’s curated special objects.

From its London base, Cabbonet has built a reputation for marrying artisanal craftsmanship with innovative design. The brand’s kitchens are a blend of state-of-the-art machinery and traditional craft techniques, showcasing a stunning collection of materials and finishes, proudly meeting European sustainable standards. A striking and unexpected example is the Melo Verde quartzite stone island, a neutral “green apple” tone that adds a unique touch to the space. The carefully curated palette surprisingly blends warm and cool tones, offering flexibility for a variety of styles.

What truly sets Cabbonet apart is founder Andrew Hays. From the acclaimed London-based design house ARTEIM, the Australian-born designer with a background in opera, theater, and film, transforms kitchens into stages for life’s most cherished objects. The geometric drawer liner designed to cradle any object thrown in – like your great-grandfather’s pocketknife or custom drawer inserts for all your oyster shucking needs, or tea ceremony set, every detail is intentional, purposeful, and beautiful. Andrew Hays founded Cabbonet in 2019, after co-founding the highly innovative bespoke kitchen brand Lanserring.

For the West Hollywood showroom, located in the iconic Pacific Design Center, Hays has partnered with Steven Cooper from Cooper Pacific Kitchens, with over 35 years of experience in the luxury design space. Together, they’re bringing Cabbonet’s unique aesthetic to Los Angeles, pushing the boundaries of luxury design by deconstructing the concept of the traditional fitted kitchen. Each element of a Cabbonet kitchen is designed with a perfect balance of form and function.

To all those embarking on the difficult journey of rebuilding or renovating their homes, remember that this process, though challenging, can also be transformative. Whether upscale or budget, an inspiring, thoughtfully designed space has the power to change not only the way we live but how we feel on a daily basis. It can turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary – and in times like these, that kind of impact is more important than ever.
