Cameron Diaz Open To “The Mask” Sequel

Cameron Diaz has come out of a decade-long acting retirement for Netflix’s action comedy “Back in Action” which hit the streamer on Friday and has so far snagged bad reviews.

Still, it marks a welcome return to acting by Diaz who first broke through as nightclub singer Tina Carlyle in 1994 comedy “The Mask” before going on to success with films like “There’s Something About Mary” and “Charlie’s Angels”.

Speaking with Access Hollywood about her new film, the question came up as to whether she would be open to returning for a direct sequel to the 1994 comedy “The Mask” (presumably ignoring 2005’s disastrous “Son of the Mask” which had an all-new cast).

She says she’s ready to do it, so long as her original co-star Jim Carrey is involved: “If Jim’s on board, I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one.”

She also expressed an interest in returning for another “Charlie’s Angels” sequel with her original co-stars, and she has an idea for a new Bosley: “I’m gonna text [Liu] right now and pitch her Jamie [Foxx] as Bosley.”

Carrey himself, while out promoting “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” expressed that he’d be open to returning for a “The Mask” sequel depending upon the script.
