Airport workers arrested over leaked crash video

Multiple airport workers have been arrested over a leaked video of the crash last week between an Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines plane near Reagan Washington National Airport, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA).

The workers, both from Maryland, received a Computer Trespass charge at the end of last week “in connection with making an unauthorized copy of Airports Authority records,” according to a statement from MWAA.

Twenty-one-year-old Mohamed Lamine Mbengue went to a detention center in Arlington County, Va., but was let go “under his own recognizance,” according to the MWAA.

Forty-five-year-old Jonathan Savoy, the other employee, was also let go “on a summons by the magistrate.”

National Airport and Dulles International Airport are operated by MWAA, which was established in 1968 by Congress.

Last week’s deadly crash near National Airport rattled the Washington region and the country.

Over the weekend, D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Chief John Donnelly said “55 victims [have] been positively identified” in the crash. Sixty passengers and four crew members were on the American Airlines flight, and three soldiers were on the military helicopter. There were no survivors.
