The outburst came after Chiefs returner Nikko Remigio broke a 63-yard return on the game’s opening kickoff. Boyd had stripped the ball and celebrated by taking his helmet off as he ran toward the Texans sideline, but did not realise the Chiefs recovered the fumble. He was then issued a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty before pushing Ross as he walked off the field. NFL reporter Tom Pelissero revealed the decision on X, posting: “The NFL fined #Texans CB Kris Boyd $8,056 for unsportsmanlike conduct.” “Throwing his helmet after the opening kickoff, leading to a sideline confrontation with special teams coordinator Frank Ross in last week’s playoff loss at Kansas City.” Some fans reacted to the fine shocked that it was not more, with one person post: ” Not enough, they charge more for excessive celebrations.” However, it may be because not long after the shove, that went viral, Boyd explained his actions and offered an apology. “I got too excited,” Boyd admitted. “I did something I shouldn’t have. Learning from it, keep my helmet on.” “I love everybody here, I love my coaches, I would never disrespect nobody, I love Frank. I’m a God-fearing man. I respect everybody in that building.” Texans’ Head Coach DeMeco Ryans came to the aid of his cornerback and downplayed the entire situation when speaking about the shove. DeMeco Ryans said Boyd didn’t push special teams coach Ross in a ‘disrespectful manner’ “I don’t think he was pushing Frank in a disrespectful manner,” Ryans told reporters. “I think it was more so he was fired up—overly fired up—and thought he made a play to help us. So that narrative that he’s pushing a coach, that’s incorrect.” Boyd has also took to social media to reveal the intense racism he has suffered as a result of the virality of the clip that has seen everyone criticise the 28-year-old. In a picture posted on Instagram stories, that shows the racist message he has got, the cornerback captioned it: “This been every second since last night up to today… Not looking for sincerity, God got me.” “The world is wicked, but I’ll be the example to still shine love and light, no matter the circumstances.” Boyd also revealed that the Ross, who he shoved, said: “Don’t worry about that.”
