8 New Songs Out Today
Listen to new songs by Jessica Lea Mayfield, Total Fucking Darkness (mem Stars), Aya, Church Tongue, Fust and more
So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JESSICA LEA MAYFIELD – “CHOOSE MYSELF”
Jessica Lea Mayfield has a new EP on the way, and while she hasn’t revealed details of that yet, she has shared the first single, the haunting “Choose Myself.”

TOTAL FUCKING DARKNESS – “DESOLATION BOYS”
Total Fucking Darknesss, the gothy dance duo of Stars’ Torquil Campbell and Young Galaxy’s Stephen Ramsay, are back with a new banger. “We forced Torq to write this one against his will,” says Ramsay. “He was in tears, but it’s our best track yet.”
—
AYA – “OFF TO THE ESSO”
London-based DJ and producer Aya announced her second LP, Hexed!, due out on March 28 via Hyperdub, and shared the glitchy, manic lead single, “Off to the Esso.”
—
FUST – “BLEACHED”
Fust’s new album Big Ugly is out in March, and they’ve shared another track from it, the rustic “Bleached.” “It’s about being young, feeling like livestock while being driven around,” vocalist Aaron Dowdy says, “not thinking, zoning out and feeling drained, disconnected, with friends appearing and disappearing, small experiences that train you to feel your difference like your friend’s hair getting blonde in the sun when yours doesn’t. And it’s about surviving youth, though not without some costs.”
—
CHURCH TONGUE – “WHEN IT BETRAYS” (ft. COLIN YOUNG)
Midwest metalcore band Church Tongue (whose guitarist Nicko Calderon is also in Knocked Loose) have three cool guests on their upcoming EP for Pure Noise–Deafheaven’s George Clarke, Initiate’s Crystal Pak, and Twitching Tongues/God’s Hate’s Colin Young–and the song with Colin is now here.
—
J MASCIS – “BREATHE” (THE CURE COVER”
J. Mascis clearly has an affinity for Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me era The Cure. Dinosaur Jr released their classic cover of “Just Like Heaven” as a 1989 single, and now he’s shared his take on “Breathe,” originally a b-side of “Catch.” The Cure’s original is a swirling ballad in orchestral synths, but J turns it into pretty, acoustic, J Mascis-style folk.
—
SPARKS – “DO THINGS MY OWN WAY”
Art pop iconoclasts Sparks have announced their 28th studio album, which is titled MAD! and will be out later this year via Transgressive Records. (It’s their first for the label and first since 2023’s The Girl Is Crying in Her Latte.) Details on the album are still to come, but they’ve just released the first single, “Do Things My Own Way.” Ron and Russell Mael say the title has been “Our mantra since 1972, amplified in 2025.”
—
BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD – “BESTIES”
Progressive indie rock group Black Country, New Road have announced Forever Howling, which will be out April 4 via Ninja Tune. It’s their first LP since original singer Isaac Wood left the group just days before they released 2022’s Ants from Up There. Here’s the orchestral first single.
